THYR BJÖRNSONHUMAN
An impossible name to pronounce in the sprawling English language. But not as impossible as the meta-crisis our species is facing, so why complain? I am a designer / writer / director / human / facilitator interested in what makes us shift perspectives / worldviews / emotionally / futures. Driven by ideas and questions of impact rather than specialised technique, my work spans from humours satire to dense poetry, from immersive experiences to traditional printmaking. Themes of worry / care / critique / discovery trickles between documentation and films, nestling tight to my heart and history.
Attempting to be understood, this website seek to serve as a platform to connect with you, dear viewer / guest? / friend? / collaborator? through a selection of things I have done.
My hope is that you feel surprised, happy, intrigued, and/or down to connect.

VOICES ABOUT ME
STUDIO SOUVENIR
WHEN: 2020-21
WHAT: A collective learning expereince
WHY: We got the chance to do what we wanted
Between September, 2020, and February, 2021, myself and nine fellow students from Design Academy Eindhoven took an opportunity offered by the school to re-think and re-design what education could be. We collectively organised who would be our teachers, what our learning goals would be and how to structure our education. Given the near-total freedom of the curriculum we also decided to move ourselves to the island of Madeira where we lived and worked for five months.
The core of our curriculum was focused on facilitating workshops with the aim to share and develop knowledge together. Throughout the course the group hosted workshops on everything between sensory experiences, sound design, Cinema 4D, working with clay, and live drawing.
At the end of our stay we curated a collective exhibition where all the research and projects were brought to the public of Madeira.
During the process I took a main role in organising the group, making sure we stayed on track towards the goals we set out, and I also played a big part in the design of the educational structure. Over the months we faced several challenges within the group which taught me a lot about the importance of communication, finding structures which makes every voice heard, and opening up to the ideas of others while also staying true my own beliefs.
